Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that the Mahindra Thar 5-door version of its most popular Thar SUV will be launched in India sometime in 2024. The Mahindra Thar 5-door Thar will be longer and wider than the 3-door model, offering more space for more passengers and luggage. It will also be available in the market with a variety of engines and features.
The Mahindra Thar 5-door Thar is expected to be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine that are available in the 3-door model. Both the engines could be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. The 5-door Thar may also be available with a 4X4 drivetrain.
In terms of features, the Thar 5-door will come equipped with the Thar’s touchscreen infotainment system, sunroof and a host of safety features. It can also be made available with various accessories like roof rack, bull bar and winch etc.
